Rock of Ages – Sydney Season Postponed

Rock of Ages, the popular 80s rock musical has postponed it’s scheduled Sydney season.

BREAKING NEWS  Rock of Ages, the popular 80s rock musical has postponed it’s scheduled Sydney season. Currently playing at the Comedy Theatre, Melbourne until November 6, the show was scheduled to open in Sydney in January 2012 after the Brisbane season at QPAC (13 November until 18 December 2011). It was announced today that, due to the current economic down turn in Australia impacting on single ticket sales in Sydney, the Sydney season of Rock of Ages, scheduled to preview from 11 January 2012, has been postponed. Rodney Rigby of Newtheatricals, on behalf of the producing group said, “It has been decided due to the current economic environment, Rock of Ages will reschedule its Sydney season at a later time.”  The show would have been playing at the same time as the blockbuster musical Love Never Dies at the Capitol from January 14 and the family musical Annie which opens at the Lyric Theatre on January 5.  It had been widely speculated that the Sydney theatre market could not support three major musicals playing at once.  All tickets purchased for the Sydney season of Rock of Ages will be fully refunded through the relevant ticketing agencies. Do you want to comment on this?
