Jersey Boys welcomes Declan Egan as new Bob Gaudio

It was announced today that a fresh face will join the Four Seasons for the final month of Jersey Boys in Sydney.

Novocastrian actor Declan Egan joins the cast of Jersey Boys as Bob Gaudio, the role which or Stephen Mahy originated in Melbourne and has performed for the last two years.

Being cast as a lead in a worldwide hit musical is a dream come true for Declan and Jersey Boys marks his professional theatre debut.

“It’s been a whirl wind since I found out”, Egan told AussieTheatre.com.

Egan is currently rehearsing the role in preparation for his debut performance on November 15 at the Theatre Royal, Sydney.

Graduating from the Diploma of Music Theatre course at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), Declan is no stranger to the stage.
He is also a graduate of the Talent Development Project, an Industry training program which has an esteemed alumni including Human Nature, Amanda Harrison, John Foreman, Lucy Maunder, Belinda Wollaston and Shaun Rennie.

Since graduating fron these training programs, Declan has performed with the corporate act Boys InThe Band with SMA productions.

Prior to NIDA, Declan studied Voice at the Newcastle Conservatorium of Music and performed in the 2010 season of Encore at the Sydney Opera House.

Declan joins cast members Bobby Fox (Frankie Valli) Glaston Toft (Nick Massi) and fellow Novocastrian, Ben Mingay (Tommy DeVito).

It is understood that Ben Mingay will complete the Sydney season and leave the cast before they travel to New Zealand, in preparation for his role as Zack Mayo in An Officer And A Gentleman. Bobby Fox is also rumoured to be departing the company before the Auckland season, although nothing is confirmed at this stage.

The multi award winning musical Jersey Boys is the story of how four blue collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks became one of the biggest American pop sensations of all time. Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi joined forces to become The Four Seasons, writing their own hits and developing their unique sound to sell over 175 million records before they were 30!

The final Sydney performance of Jersey Boys will be on December 18, 2011 at the Theatre Royal.
