Our rising star set for cabaret debut

2009 AussieTheatre.com Rising Star winner, Aaron Taylor, will make his Sydney cabaret debut on Sunday night, performing as part of Showqueen.

In what will be a superb ANZAC Day performance, the show will be an opportunity to see Aaron perform before he takes off overseas.

Aaron’s show, Gweilo In Hong Kong, is set to wow audiences.

“I’m really looking forward to performing at Showqueen and given it’s a long weekend I can’t wait to see plenty of people turn out and relax on a Sunday night in Sydney,” Aaron said.

“Showqueen is a great concept and The Sugar Mill is a fabulous room so I cannot wait to get in there and perform on Sunday.”

Aaron’s show is a one-off performance and part of the prize package he received by winning the Rising Star competition last year.

Since 2007, AussieTheatre.com has run the competition, revealing remarkable theatrical talents and lavishing upon them wonderful prizes such as a photo shoots, publicity packages, media training and more.

“Two years after Emily Cascarino won the first competition, she is starring in Mamma Mia!, whilst 2008 winner Erin Cornell has had some tremendous success with Wicked overseas and her show last year was excellent.

“I really encourage everyone to get out to The Sugar Mill on Sunday night and enjoy what will be a really wonderful performance by a young man who has such a huge future in this industry.”

Aaron began his international performance career at the age of 10, singing at Universal Studios, Los Angeles and St Pauls Cathedral, London. In Australia, Aaron has performed at prestigious venues including Telstra Stadium, home of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, Darling Harbour Convention Centre, Sydney Opera House, City Recital Hall, and Enmore Theatre. He performed the National Anthem of Australia for the Victor Chang Cardiac Institute Gala at the Sydney Convention Centre, and the National Anthems of Wales, South Africa and Australia for international telecasts of the Rugby World Cup.

Aaron graduated from the Australian Institute of Music in 2007 with a Bachelor of Music (Performance: Music Theatre). As a scholarship student, Aaron played the title role in The Who’s Tommy, directed by Andrew Davidson. Since graduation, he starred in Pecorinos First Concert, a musical adaptation of the childrens book by Alan Madison for the education program at the Sydney Opera House and recorded the soundtrack for the Australian television series Larry the Lawnmower.

Aaron’s show plays this Sunday, April 25 from 8.30pm at The Sugar Mill in Kings Cross.  Doors open at 7pm.

The show, as part of Showqueen, will also feature other special guests.
