Smash hit musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang has taken Sydney by storm, and producer Tim Lawson has today announced that an extra week of performances have been added to the Capitol Theatre Season!
Originally slated to close on January 13, the show will now leave Sydney on Saturday 19 January due to demand, giving Sydney audiences seven more chances to see the magical flying car ‘Chitty’ in action!
Producer Tim Lawson is extremely proud of the production, and is thrilled to be adding new shows to both the Melbourne and Sydney seasons.
“I couldn’t be happier with the audience and critic’s response to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” he told AussieTheatre this morning.
“The show is thrilling audiences of all ages, which is the most rewarding aspect of my job. Full credit must go to the exceptional cast and creative team led by Roger Hodgman, as well as the production team. It’s a great experience for us all.”
An Adelaide season was recently announced as the third leg of Chitty‘s Australian tour, and with ticket sales performing well across the country, Lawson hasn’t ruled out the possibility of further touring, should venues be available to house the production.

Starring Rachael Beck, David Hobson, Alan Brough, Jennifer Vuletic Peter Carrol, George Kapiniaris and Tyler Coppin, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is a heartwarming tale based on the 1968 MGM film of the same name.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang opens in Melbourne on January 30 at Her Majesty’s Theatre in Melbourne and will transfer to Adelaide on April 30, 2013.

After CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG, HER MAJESTY THEATRE Melbourne will be host to LES MISERABLES the musical, again in mid 2013, I read it in THE AGE (27/12/12), looking forward to see it again, the movie was fantastic, but I still like to see the show LIVE in a theatre.
