Legendary composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim made a trip down under last month to see Melbourne’s star studded production of his musical A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum.

On Friday 23rd November, Her Majesty’s Theatre Melbourne played host to the legendary composer for Sofitel Melbourne on Collins Presents: One Afternoon with Stephen Sondheim in conversation with ABC Morning Presenter Christopher Lawrence.

On the set of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, the best of Australian musical theatre sang some of Sondheim’s well known hits to an ecstatic audience who were thrilled to be in the presence of Broadway royalty.

All proceeds from the concert went to the ANZ Trustees Foundation: Rob Guest Endowment, an annual scholarship competition for rising Australian musical theatre stars. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum plays at Her Majesty’s Theatre until January 6, 2013.

This special photo feature of the event is thanks to photographers Shelton and Natasha Muller.
