Dirty Dancing announces first cast member, Mark Vincent

Producer John Frost has confirmed that Mark Vincent, winner of Australia’s Got Talent 2009 when he was just 16 years old, will make his musical theatre debut as Billy in Dirty Dancing this November.

Vincent, who is the only Australian classical artist to have released six albums by the age of 20, was born and raised in Sutherland Shire and studied music theatre at the Australian Institute of Music.

“Mark has an extraordinary voice and I can’t wait for audiences to hear him sing those classing Dirty Dancing songs In The Still of The Night and (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life”, John Frost said today.

“He has already achieved so much in such a short time. The whole creative team was so impressed with his audition, and we look forward to seeing him develop into a leading man on the musical theatre stage”

This production of Dirty Dancing returns to Australia 10 years after its world premiere in Sydney and its scheduled to play Sydney’s Lyric Theatre (from November 28), Melbourne’s Princess Theatre (from March 2015) and Brisbane (from May 2015).

An announcement about the leading roles of Baby and Johnny Castle, made famous in the 1987 film by Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze, will be made in the coming weeks.
