Melbourne based theatre company AG Theatre is thrilled to announce that they are returning with a brand-new season of the classic fable The 3 Little Pigs, back to the stage this July school holidays playing for a limited season at the historic National Theatre, Melbourne from 9 July.
The 55-minute children’s musical is contemporary version of an old tale, centred around mother pig who wants her three little piglets to move out and make their own homes. They resist, stomp and cry but they soon realise they have no choice, marching off together into woods, with their bag of acorns from Mother Pig , who watches with enthusiasm having finally reclaimed her space and freedom.
A Musical Adventure:
This much-loved piece of theatre is written by celebrated writers Stiles & Drewe, who are the Olivier Award winningminds behind Mary Poppins, Honk! and Peter Pan.
Australian writer of folklore writer, Joseph Jacobs (1854-1916), initially made the story popular, though it first appeared in print in the UK in a book, Nursery Rhymes of England, in 1886. The endearing story has gone on to have a universal appeal to children for nearly 140 years.
Director, Tahra Cannon :
The 3 Little Pigs is a fresh retelling of a classic fairytale, with everyone’s favourite pigs going on a musical adventure of independence as they face off against the famous Big Bad Wolf. The show is filled with catchy tunes and fantastic choreography, and is fun for all members of the family, especially the little ones. I am incredibly excited for the return season of the 3 Little Pigs and for this wonderful opportunity to engage and inspire a new generation of audiences and a shared experience for families to cherish.
Making her debut for AG Theatre is celebrated Australian actress, Susan-Ann Walker, who take on the role of Mother Pig, best known for her tv roles in Winners & Losers (2011), Blue Heelers (1994) and Ms Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries (2019). Starring alongside Susan is a talented cast of seasoned performers including Isabelle Davis (Share House: The Musical), newcomer Ben Hamilton, Zak Vasiliou (Weird Al Piano Bar), Jake Lonergan (Network Ten’s Thank God You’re Here), and Joey Phyland (Victorian College of the Arts Grad 2022).

The show is an absolute must see for over the July school holidays for lovers of the classic of all ages!
