Broadway’s Hell’s Kitchen Welcomes Rising Star Amanda Reid as New Leading ‘Ali’ Tonight

Amanda Reid steps into the spotlight at the Shubert Theatre this evening, making her Broadway debut as Ali in Alicia Keys’ smash-hit musical Hell’s Kitchen. The Shenandoah University musical-theatre major takes over the role after serving as an understudy during the production’s acclaimed run.

Reid succeeds Jade Milan, whose final performance was 25 May, and follows original star Maleah Joi Moon, the 2024 Tony Award winner who departed the show in March. To mark the cast change, the production has released two bonus tracks featuring Reid—fresh takes on Keys’ classics “If I Ain’t Got You” and “The River.”

A new voice for a New York story

Directed by Michael Greif with high-energy choreography by Camille A. Brown and a book by Kristoffer Diaz, Hell’s Kitchen chronicles 17-year-old Ali’s search for independence and identity amid the pulse of Manhattan’s west-side streets—a narrative inspired by Alicia Keys’ own upbringing. The score blends brand-new numbers with the superstar’s chart-topping hits.

Company and creative team

Reid joins principal cast members Jessica Vosk, Kecia Lewis and Phillip Johnson Richardson, leading an ensemble that includes Angela Birchett, Nico DeJesus, Gianna Harris, Lamont Walker II and more than two dozen others. Performances are currently on sale through January 2026 at the Shubert Theatre.

From screen to stage

Though new to Broadway, Reid is no stranger to the spotlight: her screen résumé features Apple TV+ teen drama Me and the award-winning independent film Miss Juneteenth. Tonight’s curtain call marks a major milestone in a career already spanning film, television and now the Great White Way.
