Next weekend, on Saturday 14th November, the 2-week-long 2015 LGBTIQ Feast Festival officially opens. This year’s headlining act is the internationally renowned, 2014 Eurovision Song Contest winner, Conchita Wurst, who is also the international ambassador to the Festival.

Local cabaret star Michael Griffiths is the official Feast ambassador this year, following in the footsteps of previous luminaries such as Matthew Mitcham, Joel Creasy, Beccy Cole, Hannah Gadsby and Bob Downe among others.

The Feast Festival runs the gamut of Queer Culture with performances ranging from lip-syncing showgirls, cabaret, theatre, comedy, visual art, film, same-sex dance competitions, forums and a range of special events. The opening night party starts with a Pride March beginning in Victoria Square which culminates in George Street, Adelaide.

Highlights of the Programme include:

The Art of Drag – A Night With Conchita (15th November) The bearded lady from Austria and drag queen extraordinaire who wowed the world at Eurovision with ‘Rise like a Phoenix’. Conchita will be joined by local showgirl Vonni as host of this very special event, marking the first time Conchita performs live in Australia. Also, on Tuesday 17th Conchita will appear in intimate conversation mode with readings from her new book Being Conchita: We Are Unstoppable.

Comedian Thomas Jaspers in Always the Bridesmaid (20-21 November) was a smash hit at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and this year Feast is bringing his show to Adelaide.

The film, All About E, shows on the 17th November at the Mercury Cinema. The film won The Jury Award for Best Women’s International Feature at North Carolina Gay and Lesbian Film Festival and features local actor Mandahla Rose.
