Acting Masterclass series announced: La Boite, QLD

If you are a professional actor with significant experience or training, these masterclasses are for you.

Brisbane’s La Boite Theatre Company is one of Australia’s leading theatre companies, and part of their vision statement includes “reaching out beyond [their] walls”.

Inviting independent artists and teams to work with their productions, presenting works by other companies from Australia and beyond and sharing their knowledge with individuals and communities that are eager to participate in the arts are just some of the ways in which this renowned company ‘reach out’ and connect to the world.

Their latest ‘reach’ includes a series of Acting Masterclasses for professional adults, for which applications are now open.

16 experienced and emerging actors are able to participate in one of two intimate 8-week masterclass programs at La Boite’s Roundhouse Theatre, led by some of Australia’s most formidable industry professionals.

Group 1 runs Monday nights 20 February – 16 April, led by La Boite Artistic Director David Berthold, Greenroom Award winning actor and director Eugene Gilfedder, and celebrated actor and and more theatre founder Andrea Moor.

Group 2 runs 7 May – 25 June, led by David Berthold, former Artistic Director of La Boite Sean Mee, and acclaimed actor/director Jennifer Flowers.

Testimonials from past participants are glowing with praise for the workshops:

It was excellent – I just want more, more and more of these opportunities to work on my craft with such wise, experienced and generous directors”, said one student from April 2011.

The cost of each La Boite masterclass series is $380 for the 8-week program, and participants must have completed formal acting training or have significant practical experience.

For bookings or more information, contact La Boite on (07) 3007 8600.
