An Original Broadway Cast Recording of the 2026 Broadway revival of THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW is planned with StarVista Music. The announced roster draws on the production’s opening company just as the Studio 54 engagement moves through a substantial cast transition. Broadway.com published news of the project on 24 August 2026, with BroadwayWorld reporting the same development that day. No release date has been set.
The reported production team for the album brings together Robert Sher, the revival’s music director Kris Kukul and John Gore as producers. Leo Schwartz, Sean Nyberg and Paul Danforth are executive producers. Kukul’s dual role places a member of the Broadway production’s musical leadership on the recording team. StarVista Music’s official artist roster also lists the 2022 Broadway cast recording of THE MUSIC MAN.
The principal cast announced for the recording is Rachel Dratch as the Narrator, Andrew Durand as Brad, Luke Evans as Frank-N-Furter, Amber Gray as Riff Raff, Harvey Guillén as Eddie and Dr. Scott, Stephanie Hsu as Janet, Juliette Lewis as Magenta, Josh Rivera as Rocky and Michaela Jaé Rodriguez as Columbia.
The eight additional company members announced for the project are Renée Albulario, Anania, Boy Radio, Caleb Quezon, Andres Quintero, Larkin Reilly, Paul Soileau and John Yi. With the nine named principals, the published roster covers 17 members of the original company.
The Original Broadway Cast Recording designation is material to the timing. Luke Evans, Andrew Durand, Stephanie Hsu, Harvey Guillén and Josh Rivera completed their Broadway engagements on 23 August, one day before the recording news appeared. Juliette Lewis and Michaela Jaé Rodriguez had already left the production in June. The album roster is therefore drawn from the revival’s opening company, not simply the group assembled for the next period of the run.
A replacement block was scheduled to begin on 25 August. Kevin McHale, Lorna Courtney, Jimin Moon and George Salazar were due to assume their respective roles, while Paul Soileau was scheduled to play Frank-N-Furter through 10 September. The four incoming principals were not included in the announced album cast. Soileau stands apart from that group because he was already named among the recording’s additional company members before his scheduled stint in the lead role. AussieTheatre has previously covered both the opening company and the August replacements; the planned recording is a separate development from those casting reports.
The cast turnover does not mark the end of the revival’s Broadway engagement. THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW began previews at Studio 54 on 26 March 2026 and opened on 23 April. The run is currently scheduled to continue through 28 February 2027, more than six months after the main August transition.
Richard O’Brien wrote the musical’s book, music and lyrics. Sam Pinkleton directs the revival, with Kris Kukul serving as music director. The production received nine nominations at the 2026 Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical. Luke Evans, Stephanie Hsu and Rachel Dratch were among its acting nominees. All three appear in the announced principal album roster.
The current staging is the musical’s third Broadway production, according to Playbill’s production history. It follows the original 1975 Broadway production and the 2000 revival. The planned album is attached specifically to the 2026 revival and should not be read as a recording of the musical’s original 1975 Broadway company. The available sources do not establish any broader claim about earlier recordings of the show.
One point remains deliberately unresolved: whether recording is already complete. Broadway.com’s report uses past-tense language around StarVista Music’s role, while BroadwayWorld presents the project prospectively. In the absence of a recording-specific statement or release listing from the production or label, the album should be treated as announced rather than finished. That distinction matters for the departing cast. The roster identifies the performers attached to the album, but it does not show whether their contributions were captured before the August departures or remain to be recorded later.
Beyond the unresolved session status, the reports leave most practical release information open. They provide no pre-order timetable, track list, catalogue number, pricing or album artwork, and do not identify streaming platforms or physical editions. No recording date, studio, orchestra, engineers or mastering personnel have been announced. It is also unknown whether the complete score or bonus material will be included, or whether the production’s current orchestrations will be represented in full. No first-person comments from Richard O’Brien, the cast, album producers or StarVista Music accompanied the reports.
Territorial distribution has likewise not been specified, so Australian access cannot yet be assumed across digital or physical formats. A release listing from StarVista Music, with a date and format details, is therefore the next practical milestone for Australian listeners.
