THE BOOK OF MORMON’s 15-year figures reveal Broadway workforce and backstage scale

New 15th-anniversary figures have quantified the workforce and backstage operation behind THE BOOK OF MORMON at Broadway’s Eugene O’Neill Theatre. The production established its awards and recording profile early in the run. It won nine competitive Tony Awards in 2011, including Best Musical. The original Broadway cast recording then won the 2012 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. Broadway.com also reported that the album reached number three on the Billboard chart and was the highest-charting Broadway cast album in more than four decades. The awards and chart position record two different parts of the production’s early profile: industry recognition for the stage musical and unusually broad reach for its cast recording.

The Broadway company is one part of a larger production network. Broadway.com counted three US national tours, two Australian tours and one UK and European tour, alongside the continuing Broadway and West End productions. That footprint distinguishes resident runs from touring companies and shows how the musical’s 15-year history has extended across several markets. Australia has its own chronology within that expansion. Contemporaneous AussieTheatre reporting scheduled an added Melbourne preview for 17 January 2017 and the official opening for 4 February 2017. That record supports 2017 as the Australian opening year, rather than 2015 as stated in some later promotional copy. No producer explanation for the discrepancy has been established, so the later reference should not displace the dates recorded as the Melbourne opening approached.

The statistics arrived after a more public phase of the anniversary. Members of the original Broadway company reunited with the production during 2026, including for a performance at the Tony Awards and appearances connected with Magical Mormon Mystery Week. AussieTheatre had already previewed that 9 to 14 June programme in March, reporting the planned returns of Josh Gad, Andrew Rannells, Nikki M. James and Rory O’Malley. After the June anniversary programme, the production’s Broadway and Australian presence remained current in August. The official Broadway site continued to list the Eugene O’Neill Theatre as the show’s home and presented THE BOOK OF MORMON in its 15th year. AussieTheatre’s calendar carried a performance entry dated 15 August 2026, while Broadway.com reported nine days later that the musical remained on tour in Australia. The exact city, venue and remaining dates were not established from an official local production or authorised ticketing source, leaving the rest of the 2026 itinerary to be confirmed.
