Mamma Mia! Welcomes New Cast and Extends West End Run at Novello Theatre

Get ready, Mamma Mia! fans—there’s a fresh cast hitting the stage at the Novello Theatre, and the show’s not going anywhere soon! Starting Monday, October 7, the long-running musical will welcome new talent to its lineup, just as it extends its booking period until September 27, 2025.

Making her West End debut, Izi Maxwell steps into the role of Sophie, bringing her experience from playing Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard in Six (UK and International Tour). Joining her is Ben Irish, known for his performances in Frozen the Musical, Jersey Boys, and 9 to 5: The Musical, who will play Sky.

The cast shake-up also includes Harriet Samuels (Frozen the Musical) as Ali and Zaynah Ahmed (Hex, Disenchanted, Wonka) as Lisa. Jamie Landmann (Starlight Express, Hairspray, Grease) and Thomas Walton (The Artist, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie UK Tour) will also make their West End debuts as Eddie and Pepper, respectively.

Sticking around for more ABBA magic are Mazz Murray as Donna, Kate Graham as Tanya, Nicola-Dawn Brook as Rosie, Christopher Dickins as Harry, and Stephen Beckett as Bill. Natalie Langston will continue to dazzle as Donna at select performances, while Luke Jasztal, stepping up from the ensemble, will now take on the role of Sam.

The ensemble will continue to feature familiar faces like Matthew Barrow, Lawrence Guntert, Samantha Ivey, Flyn Mullins, Hayley-Jo Murphy, and Ella Tweed. Newcomers joining the ensemble include Mia Anthony Coffield, Franky Attard, Jack Bromage, Maddy Cameron, Dennis Cousins, Timmy Driscoll, Andrew Gallo, Lauren Hall, Genevieve Jameson, Emma Odell, Tom Parsons, Adam Scotland, Jonah Sercombe, and Maisie Waller.

Mamma Mia! recently celebrated its 25th anniversary on April 6, 2024, cementing its status as one of the West End’s longest-running musicals. Since its 1999 debut, it has become a global phenomenon, entertaining over 70 million people worldwide and raking in over £4.5 billion at the box office. The show’s success even sparked two hit movies.

Produced by Judy Craymer, Richard East, and Björn Ulvaeus for Littlestar in association with Universal, Mamma Mia! features the iconic songs of ABBA, penned by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, with a story by Catherine Johnson. The production is directed by Phyllida Lloyd, with choreography by Anthony Van Laast, and design by Mark Thompson.

The musical continues to smash box office records in London and beyond, with tours running in the UK, North America, and other locations worldwide. As part of its 25th-anniversary celebrations, ITV’s Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream welcomed Stevie Doc and Tobias Turley to the London production as Sophie and Sky earlier this year.
