Hadestown Announces New West End Cast as Lead Roles Change Hands

The Tony Award-winning musical Hadestown is set for some exciting new changes in its West End production. The show, which intertwines two powerful love stories in a re-imagined Greek mythological setting, will welcome new lead actors at the Lyric Theatre later this month.

After enchanting audiences since its opening at the Lyric in February, Dónal Finn (Orpheus) and WhatsOnStage Award winner Grace Hodgett-Young (Eurydice) will take their final bows on August 25, 2024. The pair has been with the production since its West End debut.

Stepping into their roles from August 27, 2024, will be Dylan Wood, making his West End debut as Orpheus, and Madeline Charlemagne, who has been with Hadestown as a Fate, now taking on the role of Eurydice.

Francessca Daniella-Baker, known for My Fair Lady, will replace Charlemagne as one of the three Fates, joining current cast members Bella Brown and Allie Daniel. The rest of the principal cast, including Zachary James as Hades, Melanie La Barrie as Hermes, and Gloria Onitiri as Persephone, will continue in their roles, alongside the ensemble and swings who bring the underworld to life.

Hadestown, originally premiering at New York Theatre Workshop in 2016, has since garnered eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and holds the record as the highest-grossing and longest-running show at Broadway’s Walter Kerr Theatre. The London production continues to captivate audiences with its stunning set design by Rachel Hauck, costume design by Michael Krass, lighting by Bradley King, sound design by Nevin Steinberg and Jessica Paz, and choreography by David Neumann.
