Victorian Opera has made several further difficult decisions regarding its remaining 2020 performances.
Margaret Fulton: The Musical scheduled from 15-19 September at Arts Centre Melbourne, Playhouse has been cancelled.
Victorian Opera’s annual Youth Opera production, Franz Schubert’s The Friends of Salamanca scheduled from 25-26 September at Arts Centre Melbourne, Playhouse has been postponed until 2021.
The two productions represented the final works being staged in Victorian Opera’s Season 2020. The company is exploring the possibility of presenting live performance later this year.
Victorian Opera’s decisions in response to COVID-19 have always been made in accordance with public health measures to ensure the safety of Victorian Opera’s community of audiences, artists and staff amidst the ongoing pandemic, stated Artistic Director Richard Mills.
“Our company has many more digital projects to share throughout 2020 with works being produced for all ages. We are excited to return to the magic of live performance when it is safe to do so,” Mills notes.
Ticketholders and subscribers have a range of options, including refunding their tickets, donating their worth to Victorian Opera, or transferring tickets for The Friends of Salamanca to a future performance date.
