The Sydney Symphony Orchestra Welcomes 12 Young Musicians To Its 2025 Fellowship Program

Sydney Symphony Fellowship 2025: the Sydney Symphony Orchestra has named 12 brilliant young musicians who will spend the next year honing their craft with Australia’s flagship ensemble.

For more than two decades, the Sydney Symphony Fellowship Program has provided a holistic, hands-on bridge between study and a professional career. The 2025 Fellows were chosen through a nation-wide audition process across Australia and New Zealand.

What the Fellowship Offers

  • One-on-one mentoring with Sydney Symphony musicians
  • Masterclasses led by world-renowned guest artists
  • Chamber, regional-tour and main-stage performances, including concerts in the refurbished Sydney Opera House Concert Hall
  • Tailored career advice and industry networking

Meet the 2025 Fellows

Why This Program Matters

“The Fellowship is the vital final bridge between learning and professional life. Playing inside a full-time orchestra, with support from our mentors, is the perfect training ground for musicians of the future.”
John Nolan, Director of Learning & Engagement

“Being an SSO Fellow is both an incredible honour and a transformative opportunity—personally and professionally.”
Ariel Postmus, 2025 Viola Fellow

Since 2001, the Fellowship has helped launch dozens of careers: 12 alumni now hold permanent chairs in the Sydney Symphony, while many others perform with leading orchestras worldwide.
