The Production Company announce official closure

Today, we said our final farewells to The Production Company.

In a statement on their website, it was announced that they would no longer be going ahead with their previously mentioned May show, and would instead be officially closing down.

2020 UPDATE: Given the unique challenges of the current economic climate, we will not be proceeding with previously announced plans to present a musical in May. Today, we simply want to say thank you for being part of the past 21 wonderful years. Since 1999 we’ve presented 65 outstanding musicals at our home, Arts Centre Melbourne: we’ve laughed, cried and applauded the best of the best Australian talent, as we supported live entertainment and local artists. So many of our current stars were given their first major roles at TPC, and boy, were they in great company performing in musicals created by Rodgers & Hammerstein, Lerner & Loewe, Jerry Herman, George & Ira Gershwin, Stephen Sondheim, Cole Porter, Jule Styne, Frank Loesser, Nick Enright, Peter Allen, Irving Berlin, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tim Rice, David Bowie and Leonard Bernstein to name a few!

With more than a million tickets sold and thousands of jobs created, it’s time to say goodbye.  Thank you to our artists, audiences, creatives, crew, musicians, makers, patrons, sponsors and subscribers. You have have been our Production Company family.

We’ll see you at the theatre!
