Sydney Festival won Best Cultural Arts or Music Event at a black tie function for the Australian Event Awards in Sydney last night.
The Australian Event Awards is the pinnacle awards program for the events industry in Australia, and last night the Sydney International Arts Festival won Best Cultural Arts or Music Event at the black tie function.
The program is guided by ongoing industry consultation to answer the need for cohesiveness across the entire Australian industry, to develop industry identity and to assist Australian operators in cross-development of opportunities between events and event disciplines Sydney Festival Director Lindy Hume said, “We’re incredibly pleased to win this award. We’re very proud of what we do at Sydney Festival, and this recognition is a wonderful endorsement. Congratulations to all the finalists – their dedication and passion is a reflection of the high quality of Australian arts and music events, making it the fantastic and dynamic industry that it is. “Sydney Festival would like to thank its principal supporters: the NSW State Government, the City of Sydney and Principal Sponsor, Zip Industries, as well as our vast stable of corporate partners. The close partnership that exists with all its stakeholders underpins the Festival’s success in reaching and engaging with the people of Sydney and its visitors each January,” said Ms Hume. Around 650,000 people enjoyed the 2011 Sydney Festival, which included 109 events with 338 performances and 17 free events throughout the city, and contributed $50.2m to the NSW economy. Sydney Festival 2012 is on January 7-29. The full line-up for the 2012 program will be announced on November 2, with tickets on sale November 9. Related Articles:
