THE MURDER OF ROGER ACKROYD at the Genesian Theatre

Agatha ChrisƟe returns to the Genesian Theatre in spectacular style with the opening this weekend of THE MURDER OF ROGER ACKROYD. This producƟon marks the first ChrisƟe play at the company’s Rozelle stage, with her most famous detective, Hercule Poirot, making his debut at the company’s new home.

The unofficial ‘angel’ of the Genesian Theatre and affecƟonately known as ‘Aggie’, the celebrated playwright’s work has long been a favourite amongst audiences. In THE MURDER OF ROGER ACKROYD Belgian sleuth, Hercule Poirot, is tempted out of reƟrement to solve the murder of wealthy widower, Roger Ackroyd.

When Ackroyd is found dead in his study every neighbour and relation in the quiet village of King’s Abbot becomes a suspect. Every servant and acquaintance in the household at the Ɵme of Ackroyd’s murder also seems to have something to hide — but who did it? And why? Enter the well-meaning but bumbling local inspector whose detecƟve skills prove hilarious against the calm wisdom of the legendary Poirot.

Director Ali Bendall:

Working with this talented cast on our first ‘Aggie’ in the new theatre has been a blast – 15 Characters, 22 Scenes and a great many suspects. This promises to be an entertaining evening of aƩempƟng to guess Whodunnit!.

THE MURER OF ROGER ACKROYD is Christie’s most daring murder mystery – brought vividly to life as a stylish, suspenseful a and witty whodunnit that will keep audiences guessing (and chuckling) until the very end!

THE MURDER OF ROGER ACKROYD is playing Saturday, 16 January to Saturday, 28 February, 2026.
