The Butterfly Effect: Spectacular Madama Butterfly returns to Sydney Harbour

For the first time in almost a decade the profound beauty of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly will once again grace the Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour stage this autumn.

The lauded production from Opera Australia brings it’s musical brilliance back to Mrs Macquaries Point from Friday 24 March for a limited run until Sunday 23 April.

In this grand scale production an enormous full moon floats above the water, a dynamic set changes and unfolds before the audiences’ eyes and each night the glittering city skyscape is lit by a thrilling fireworks display. Pop-up bars and dining complete one of the most spectacular nights out that Sydney has to offer.

Also making a welcome return is the stunning HSBC Platinum Club, set amongst the treetops with unbeatable views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge offering a fine dining menu created by the award-winning team from Kitchen by Mike before the show and drinks at interval.

When it premiered on the Harbour in 2014 Madama Butterfly broke box office records and won critical acclaim for its striking aesthetic and cemented the annual harbourside event as an unmissable Sydney experience.
