Sydney, get ready for a surprise: mystery musicals are coming!

You walk into the theatre and take your seat. The curtain comes up. The overture starts. It sounds like an ordinary night at a musical, but here’s the catch: at Squabbalogic’s new Mystery Musicals, you won’t have any idea which show you are about to see.

From a horror story to a mystery – Squabbalogic brings Mystery Musicals to town! Photo by Michael Francis, Francis Photography.

Intrigued? So are we! Squabbalogic, the darlings of Sydney indie musical theatre, have come up with a cracking way to fundraise their 2014/2015 season and give us all more musical theatre at the same time.

On Saturday January 24th, for two shows only, Squabbalogic will present a staged reading of a rare gem of a show – but only if all 300 seats have been pre-booked by December 31st.

The proceeds will go back into the company, helping to make their future productions possible.

Confused? Here’s how it’s going to go down:

But here’s the exciting part: some of the cast for this first mystery musical has already been announced (they don’t know what the show is yet, either), and it’s a pretty amazing assembly! The show… whatever it is… will feature theatre icon Nancye Hayes (she has a theatre named after her), Johanna Allen (Wicked), Blake Erickson (Sondheim on Sondheim), Jessica James-Moody (Reefer Madness), Josie Lane (Miracle City), Michele Lansdown (Drowsy Chaperone), Garry Scale (Carrie), and Rowan Witt (South Pacific).

What are you waiting for? Reserve your tickets now!

The first Mystery Musical is scheduled for Saturday January 24th, 2015, at Squabbalogic’s home, the Reginald Theatre at the Seymour Centre. Reserve tickets at http://www.squabbalogic.com.au/
