Stonnington Presents: So Soiree Festival

City of Stonnington is thrilled to present So Soiree, featuring eight days of performances across comedy, cabaret and circus, celebrating the local art scene. Presented in partnership with Melbourne Fringe, So Soiree takes place at the well-travelled intimate pop-up performance venue, The Parlour, located in Grattan Gardens, as well as at Chapel off Chapel.

Taking inspiration from Adelaide Fringe and Edinburgh Fringe festivals, the stunning outdoor area of Grattan Gardens will serve as a hub for the inaugural So Soiree Festival. The Parlour has travelled across Australia, following appearances at Adelaide Fringe Festival and Perth Fringe World. Audiences can visit the So Soiree Garden before and after performances, grab a drink from a menu created by Munificent wines.

The full program will be announced on Friday 5 November, highlights include, Tulliah, who will kick off Chapel Fringe Sessions, singing songs from her new EP recorded during lockdown where she worked remotely with Grammy award-winning producer David Kahne in NYC who has worked with Lana Del Rey, Paul McCartney and Stevie Nicks. She has garnered lots of international press and attention in the UK where she was named “One to Watch 2021” by The Independent and “Breaking Act” by The Times. Showing at Chapel off Chapel.

Zimbabwean-born, London-raised artist KYE (pictured left) will perform her modern take on R&B, fuelled by her formidable song writing, timeless vocals and finely curated selection of cross-genre collaborators. Apple Music highlights KYE as one of the latest ‘Australian Up Next’ artists and she’s collaborated with the likes of Sampa the Great. KYE will also take to the iconic Chapel Stage for one night only.

Vocalist John Floreani from Trophy Eyes will perform his signature highly metaphorical lyrics and melodic riffs. John Floreani is inspired by romantic tragedy and beauty in life’s most simple phenomena. A lyrical deep dive into heartache, addiction and self-loathing, Floreani released his debut album Sin this year to a heart-warming global response along with sold out headline shows in Australia, USA and the UK. This is a special chance to get up close and personal with John Floreani at Chapel off Chapel.

City of Stonnington Mayor, Cr Kate Hely said

I’m thrilled that Stonnington will be hosting the So Soiree Festival, it gives the community an opportunity to come together and celebrate comedy, cabaret and circus. We will be showcasing some of Melbourne’s best performers and we can’t wait to have them at our festival. There will be something for everyone, we are really looking forward to welcoming back and kickstarting the Art’s industry’s return to our community.
