Stephen Schwartz in conversation with Leigh Sales

In an exclusive live event on Saturday 13 February, Leigh Sales – one of Australia’s most respected journalists – will sit down with acclaimed composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz to discuss his work and career at Sydney’s Theatre Royal.

A multi-award winning composer and lyricist, Stephen Schwartz is best known amongst theatre fans as the man behind the fan favourite musicals Wicked, Pippin and Godspell and for film work on the classic Disney offerings of Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Enchanted.

Leigh Sales is an award-winning journalist, author, and one of Australia’s most trusted live-interviewers.  She anchor’s ABC’s national flagship current affair program, 7.30 Report, and in 2005 won her first Walkley award for coverage of issues surrounding Guantamo Bay. Sales is a highly-respected contributor to journalism and media in Australia, and is no stranger to musical theatre.

Featuring performances from some of Australia’s leading musical theatre performers including Stephen Mahy (Jersey Boys, Grease, The Rocky Horror Show), Elise McCann (currently starring as Miss Honey in Matilda The Musical), Christy Sullivan (Blood Brothers) as well as Broadway performer Michael McCorry Rose (A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, Wicked), Stephen Schwartz in conversation with Leigh Sales will be produced by Enda Markey.

Maddi is a performer who has been too scared to stand in the spotlight for the last few years, so she channels her need for love and appreciation into writing about the theatre instead. An energetic consumer of musical theatre, she is currently earning a degree in journalism and teaches voice in her small hometown. Maddi is normally covered in cat fur, has an opinion on everything, and in the words of Lin-Manuel Miranda, is not throwing away her shot.
