Joanna Murry-Smith is set to return to Sydney Theatre Company this season with a brand new play directed by Andrew Upton. Commissioned by STC, Fury runs from their Wharf 1 theatre space.
The play will feature Robert Menzies, Sarah Peirse, Harry Greenwood, and Geraldine Hakewill.
A family drama, Fury is set in a liberal, middle class, seemingly normal family who will be rocked by a series of revelations. Mother Alice is a highly successful neuroscientist and father Patrick is a moderately successful novelist. Son Joe is having a tough time in his final year of school.
Secrets and lies are lying in wait just below the surface of this family life, which will be revealed in Murray-Smith’s trademark wit and eye for detail.
STC staged Murray-Smith’s play Honour in 2010. This year, her play The Gift will have its US premiere.
Fury will run from April 15 to June 8. For more information and to book tickets, visit sydneytheatre.com.au.
