Stand Up Summer 2026
One of the hottest line ups of Australian comedy talent ever assembled will fill the Sydney Opera House with raucous laughter next February when Stand Up Summer brings together an incomparable group of Australian comedians for two weeks of laughter, storytelling and connection.
Commencing on Tuesday 3 February with a gala opening, hosted by Geraldine Hickey and headlined by Celia Pacquola, who will be joined by special guests in an event that promises one hell of a vibe to launch the season.
The rest of the week will showcase Australian comedy icon Denise Scott with her first solo show in over a decade; charmingly candid and hilariously insightful Lizzy Hoo; award-winning comedian and viral sensation Lou Wall; and the new show from one of our most beloved comedy stars Geraldine Hickey.

Week two continues the laugh fest, featuring Zoe Coombs Marr, fresh from sold-out runs in Edinburgh, Melbourne and London; global comedy sensation Jenny Tian back in her hometown; and the fearless, funny and frank superstar Mel Buttle.
This summer, the Opera House will be the happiest place in Sydney, when this stellar selection of Australia’s finest funny people gathers to show off their individual and collective talent.
Wednesday 4 & Thursday 5 February: Australian comedy icon, Denise Scott brings wit, warmth, and sharp observational humour that will resonate with audiences across generations. After one hell of a time over the last few years, Scotty returns with the world premiere of her brand new show Tickety Boo.
Wednesday 4 – Friday 6 February: Charmingly candid and hilariously insightful, Lizzy Hoo is back with Deja Hoo, a show about being stuck on repeat and trying to find the skip button. As a 41yo single career lady that has shared custody of a dog, this show is about trying to find connection in ways she never thought she would: coffee shops, hiking groups, dating men in open relationships (which she swears by for the busy working woman), bungee jumping, piano lessons and romantic island getaways (alone).
Friday 6 – Sunday 8 February: Geraldine Hickey’s stopping to smell the roses in her latest show Meander. This new show from one of our most beloved comedy stars sees storytelling at its absolute best. Geraldine has a knack for making her audience interactions feel like a chat with friends. Going on this comedy meander with her will be pure joy.

Saturday 7 & Sunday 8 February: Award-winning comedian and viral sensation Lou Wall, brings Breaking the Fifth Wall to the Opera House, fresh from a smash hit Edinburgh Fringe Festival, an off Broadway Premiere and a nomination for Best Show at the Melbourne Comedy Festival. “A silly and
profound standup masterpiece” The Guardian
Wednesday 11 – Sunday 15 February: Mel Buttle is here to treat you with a feel-good show designed to bring audiences a sliver of that joy/bliss/hope/happiness felt when the Book Club brochure arrived at school. In the hands of this fearless, funny and frank superstar of Australian comedy, Taking My Sunglasses Off to Hear You Better is set to be a hilarious, razor-sharp commentary on the relatable ordinariness of suburban life.
Thursday 12 – Saturday 14 February: Global comedy sensation Jenny Tian is back in her hometown with smash hit show Jenny’s Travels. Jenny spent 2025 touring the UK and every corner of the USA. She is home for a nano second.
Saturday 14 February: Fresh from sold out runs in Edinburgh, Melbourne, London and a trip to the Busan Comedy Festival, Zoë Coombs Marr is bringing The Splash Zone to Sydney. Zoë is inviting audiences to pop on their ponchos and strap in for a full-throttle, pedal-to-the-metal, gloriously silly ride—going all in, pulling out all the stops, and leaping before looking, all in the name of laughter.
