South Pacific Children’s cast announced, Brisbane
How’s this for a holiday job? Treading the boards with some of Australia’s biggest music theatre stars in the Brisbane season of South Pacific at QPAC.
Six talented young Queenslanders (two casts of three) have been cast in the roles of Jerome, Ngana and Bloody Mary’s assistant for South Pacific’s five week season from December 27.
The youngsters are aged between 7 and 12 and will star opposite Teddy Tahu Rhodes as Emile de Becque (father of Jerome and Ngana), Lisa Mccune as Nellie and Christine Anu as Bloody Mary.
The role of Ngana will be shared by Joy Ehue (Brisbane) and Louisa Finau (Sunshine Coast), the role of Jerome will be shared by Levi Ehue (Brisbane) and Jamila Jalloh (Gold Coast) and the role of Bloody Mary’s assistant will be shared by Tobi-Kay Ehue (Brisbane) and Eloise Payet (Gold Coast). Ehue and Payet will also understudy both Jerome and Ngana.
Lyndon Terracini, Artistic Director of Opera Australia said he was delighted to secure this talented group of Queensland children for the Brisbane season of this smash hit musical.
“In fitting with the South Pacific story, the children needed to be of mixed race to represent offspring of a European Father and a Polynesian Mother. They also required skill in acting, dancing and had to be able to sing – in French! We are thrilled with the six youngsters selected to play these roles,” said Terracini.
South Pacific has received rave reviews in Melbourne and Sydney and is set to be the hottest ticket in Brisbane this summer.
