See Emma Dean stripped

Emma Dean is bringing her acclaimed solo show to Brisbane.

Named one of ten artists to watch in 2011 by The New York Post, pop-cabaret darling Emma Dean explores her vulnerability in her one woman show, Stripped.

Featuring her top 15 US indie radio hit, ‘Sincerely Fearful’, Dean takes off the fishnets to bare her soul and expose her musical nudity.

If you’ve walked into a show of Emma Dean’s in the past 2 years, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d been swallowed into a twisted day-dream. Dean has become the guilty pleasure of the underground with her unique shows featuring a menagerie of fantasy, corsets and fish-nets. Now, Emma distils her personal chaos to it’s most basic visceral elements. It’s just her, a piano and an ominous mannequin named “Scarlet” who assists with her on-stage costume changes.

Dean is now taking her solo show to Brisbane.

Peeling back to the bare essentials, Dean will perform songs from her extensive original back-catalogue, brand new works and tributes to her influences. She will also be joined by special guests including Adelaide’s very own Emily Davis.

Stripped places different aspects of my personality under the microscope,” Emma explains.

“It’s very raw, real and totally unapologetic. There is something so vulnerable in sitting up on stage with just your voice and a piano. The songs take on a whole new life…”

The show is playing in Brisbane at Contortionist Studios on September 10 and 11. Bookings: Click here.
