Royal Commission calls for people in the entertainment industry to come forward

The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse would like to hear from anyone who has experienced, or has information regarding, child sexual abuse in institutions in the entertainment industry.

Royal Commission CEO Philip Reed has confirmed that the Royal Commission is calling for people with information about child sexual abuse in the entertainment industry to come forward.

“Institutions within the Royal Commission’s scope may include television networks, film and television production companies, theatrical production companies, dance, drama and performing arts schools or colleges, casting agencies or any other company, agency or organisation, public or private involved in the entertainment industry”, he said.

Anyone with information, whether or not they have experienced child sexual abuse themselves, can contact the Royal Commission.

“Anyone thinking of coming forward should be rest assured that the confidentiality of their information will be protected,” Mr Reed said.
