Production Company’s Curtains cast announcement

The cast for The Production Company’s new staging of the Broadway whodunnit, Curtains was announced earlier today, with Colin Lane, John Wood and Nicki Wendt joining Simon Gleeson, Alex Rathgeber, Lucy Maunder, Melissa Langton and Alinta Chidzey in the Kander & Ebb murder mystery musical comedy. According to Ken Mackenzie-Forbes, Artistic Director of the Production Company, the casting of Curtains “reflects the depth of artistic excellence […] in Melbourne.”

Opening on 20 August in the State Theatre, Arts Centre Melbourne for a season of 10 performances, the short run will mark the Australian professional premiere of Curtains, which opened on Broadway in 2007. Playing more than 500 performances and nominated for multiple Tony Awards during its New York outing, Curtains is described as a “musical whodunnit”, a detective thriller “with a cast of colourful backstage characters”.

The show will be directed by  Roger Hodgman, with musical direction by John Foreman. See below for full casting details.

Maddi Ostapiw

Maddi is a performer who has been too scared to stand in the spotlight for the last few years, so she channels her need for love and appreciation into writing about the theatre instead. An energetic consumer of musical theatre, she is currently earning a degree in journalism and teaches voice in her small hometown. Maddi is normally covered in cat fur, has an opinion on everything, and in the words of Lin-Manuel Miranda, is not throwing away her shot.
