Packemin heads down the yellow brick road with The Wizard of Oz

Packemin Productions continues to bring musical theatre to western Sydney, with their next venture, The Wizard of Oz, opening at Riverside Theatres this week.

Adam Sculina, Jimmy Rees, Laura Murphy and Luke Joslin star in The Wizard Of Oz – Packemin Production

Following the success of 2012’s Oliver!, Packemin has put together an award-winning and magnetic leading cast including Jimmy Rees (Giggle & Hoot), Laura Murphy (Magical Tales), Luke Joslin (Avenue Q, Annie) and Adam Scicluna (Mo-Award winner).

Jimmy Rees is also well known as Jimmy Giggle, a role he plays in the hugely popular ABC show Giggle & Hoot. This effervescent 25 year old performer is thrilled to be performing the role of Scarecrow in this wonderful timeless production.

“One of my favourite parts of the Giggle & Hoot show is when we get to tour. It’s a real buzz meeting all the kids and seeing the smiles we bring them. When the opportunity came up to take on the role of The Scarecrow on stage I jumped at the chance” Rees said.

“TV is great fun, but live theatre lets you really connect with the audience. I can’t wait!”

There are also 150 local school students on hand as the Munchkins, and an ensemble made up of 60 community performers. Directed by Neil Gooding with musical direction by Peter Hayward and choreography by Camilla Jakimowicz, this will be one for both the young and the young at heart.

The Wizard of Oz will run from 8-23 February.
