OUT OF AFRICA with Tarisai Vushe

Zimbabwe-born singer-actor Tarisai Vushe (Lion King and Madiba the Musical) debuts her power-packed musical journey at the Seymour Centre Sound Lounge in July and Parramatta’s Riverside Theatre in August.

Co-written with Playscript’s Geoffrey Sykes, Out of Africa is a celebration and meditation on one woman’s journey from a Zimbabwe village to Australia’s Top End and on to suburban Sydney!

In an exciting collage of traditional African and modern Australian song, dance, storytelling, rap, legend, comedy and more, Tarisai’s inspiring migrant story will entrance audiences. Along the way she invites them to share her visions of Africa’s past and Australia’s present – with dramatic differences – as well as some surprising common ground – along the way!

Tarisai Vushe has had an outstanding career as singer since arriving in Australia 20 years ago, featuring in on TV (including Australia’s Got Talent) in touring musicals, with lead roles including in the Lion King and Madiba (Mandela).

She is joined by talented Ugandan-born Kenneth Tusubira in song and dance, acclaimed Zimbabwean keyboard player Jonathan Chagaresango, and accomplished Ugandan actress, singer and model Suzan Mutesi (pictured below)  Writing and direction is collaborative in this culturally-inspired performance.
