Opera Australia celebrates 70th Anniversary with free outdoor performance and 70% discount tickets

Opera Australia is bringing opera out of the theatre and onto the streets of Melbourne with a free lunchtime performance on the steps of the Regent Theatre on Collins Street at 12.30pm on Wednesday 29 April.

Melbournians will be treated to a rare, up close and personal preview of two magnificent singers – Melbourne’s own Stacey Alleaume and Tongan-New Zealand tenor Filipe Manu, performing two pieces fromLa Traviata, backed by 17 musicians from Orchestra Victoria and conducted by Brian Castles-Onion.

This will be the first chance for audiences to hear these two singers together and feel the power of their voices in an unamplified performance of Verdi’s unforgettable melodies, ahead of their upcoming Melbourne season of La Traviata playing at the Regent Theatre from 8-16 May.

All who join for the short lunchtime performance will be eligible for a 70% discount on tickets to see the Melbourne premiere season of Sarah Giles’ acclaimed production of Verdi’s masterpiece, as part of Opera Australia’s 70th anniversary celebrations.

This special offer is only available to attendees at the lunchtime performance, and applies across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday performances, in A, B and C reserve.

No need to book, just turn up and secure a spot along Collins St to celebrate the magic of opera with Opera Australia as they mark 70 years of operatic excellence.
