NIDA Independent Program 2013 now open for applications

NIDA Parade Theatres has announced that the second run of the NIDA Independent Program is open for applications.

Following on from the very competitive 2012 inaugural program, NIDA Independent anticipates a high quality batch of applications from all over Australia. There are four performance slots available for artists who can provide progressive, dynamic and exciting works, and they will be staged at the NIDA Parade Studio. Support from the program ranges from subsidised venue hire, ticketing services and technical support, to advice and potential grant assistance.

Adding to the creative energy in the Parade Theatres is the Creative Development Program, in which selected artists work on a variety of projects: developing new multimedia work, giving a first draft of their script and airing, and testing devised work. This initiative offers artists with new works and a place and dedicated time to develop these projects. In 2013, five slots will be available.

Submissions for both programs are open to artists Australia-wide and are not restricted to NIDA  alumni; rather, NIDA Independent opens up the world-class facilities of the Institute to independent companies from around Australia. The selected productions will have the opportunity to present their work in a professional theatre space.

The program is also open to the re-invention of classic and contemporary texts.

Applications close on Friday 12 October. For full details and to apply visit www.nida.edu.au
