Morning Melodies celebrates 40 years of joyous entertainment in 2025

Arts Centre Melbourne’s much-loved Morning Melodies program returns in 2025 with an expanded line-up of stellar performance, celebrating 40 years of joyous entertainment on stage.

From February to December 2025, established stars and emerging talent will perform on the iconic Hamer Hall stage to mark this special milestone including David Hobson, Bernadette Robinson, Zoy Frangos and Darren Coggan, among others.

Spanning genres and generations, the 2025 program pays tribute to musical icons such as Elvis Presley, celebrates 1960’s rock ‘n’ roll teenage pioneers, female powerhouses Dolly Parton, Edith Piaf, Barbra Streisand as well as the emotive country and folk tunes of John Denver, Glen Campbell and Cat Stevens.

The magnificent sounds of the Air Force Band, a 17-piece swing and jazz ensemble, will spill out over Hamer Hall’s auditorium whilst much-loved food icon Maggie Beer will join Orchestra Victoria to muse over her love of music.

Dance lovers will be treated to an electrifying performance from The Tap Pack and The Australian Ballet School – an annual crowd favourite – returns with a program of traditional and contemporary dance performed by future ballet stars.

The Victorian College of the Arts will also showcase their next generation talent as they sing and dance their way through the Golden Age of musical theatre.

Morning Melodies began in 1985 as film screenings in Arts Centre Melbourne’s Playhouse theatre. Performer Betty Pounder and producer Sandy Graham sought to make good use of an otherwise empty theatre on a Monday morning.

Forty years on and the acclaimed program has a rich history with over 450 live performances taking place on the majestic Hamer Hall stage to more than half a million audience members.
