Menopause The Musical® is Back!

Ladies, it’s time to embrace “The Change” with a night out full of uncontrollable laughter, uplifting celebration, and shared sisterhood. The global smash hit Menopause The Musical® returns this September in an all-new production for an exclusive two-week season at Sydney’s iconic State Theatre.

Flushed with hot success since its 2001 premiere, Menopause The Musical® has played to over 17 million women (and brave men) in more than 500 cities and nine languages. In Las Vegas, it’s the longest-running musical in the city’s history, thanks to a record-breaking 17-year run — and counting.

Australia’s love affair with the show began in 2005, when it opened at Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre. Originally slated for just two months, the season extended again and again, closing after seven months. Since then, the production has played to more than 1.5 million people across 200+ cities and towns nationwide — and holds the title as the longest-running musical ever to play Brisbane.

Lighting up the stage in this brand-new production are four queens of Australian musical theatre: Tara Morice as Professional Woman, Erika Heynatz as Soap Star, Emma Powell as Housewife, and Cherine Peck as Earth Mother.

Best known for her role as Fran in the iconic award-winning film Strictly Ballroom, Tara Morice has been seen on Australian screens and stages extensively over her distinguished 30-year career. Screen credits include Moulin Rouge, Peter Rabbit 2, McLeod’s Daughters and Dance Academy.

Known for her powerhouse musical theatre performances in Legally Blonde, The Rocky Horror Show and Singin’ in the Rain, Erika Heynatz is a true favourite for critics and audiences alike. Her screen credits include Mad Max: Fury Road, Home and Away, and many will know her as the original host of Australia’s Next Top Model.

Emma Powell, a tour de force of musical comedy, has entertained Australian audiences with her performances in Mamma Mia!, Kinky Boots, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Come From Away and, most recently, Sister Act. She is also the creator of the international hit show Busting Out!, and the original Australian musical comedy Dumped! The Musical.

Acclaimed musical theatre performer Cherine Peck has built a career spanning more than three decades with standout roles across the Australian stage. She has appeared in hit productions such as Miss Saigon, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Xanadu, and Avenue Q. Her celebrated performances have earned her multiple Green Room Awards and a Helpmann Award nomination.

Inspired by a hot flush and a glass (okay… bottle!) of wine, this hilarious, taboo-breaking musical follows four women who meet while shopping. As they swap stories of hormonal heatwaves, memory meltdowns, and midnight sweats, they belt out parodied hits from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s — including I Will Survive, Hot Stuff, What’s Love Got to Do With It, and We Are Family — and discover that menopause isn’t the end, but a bold new beginning, lived with honesty, humour, and a new attitude.

Produced by SK Entertainment, this new production is brought to life by a creative team led by the multi-award-winning Cameron Mitchell (Nice Work If You Can Get It, Singin’ In The Rain, Calamity Jane) as Director and Choreographer.

Orchestrations and Arrangements by Damon Wade (Jesus Christ Superstar, Zombie! The Musical), Set Design by Frances Story (Friends! The Musical Parody, Cinderella), Lighting Design by Jasmine Rizk (In The Heights, Jekyll & Hyde) and Costume Design by Christine Mutton (Titanique, Hugh Jackman – Broadway to Oz).

Grab your girlfriends and get ready to laugh, relate, and feel the joy of being understood. It’s a night of feel-good hits, hilarious truths and a whole lot of heart!
