Melbourne International Comedy Festival is thrilled to announce that registrations for RAW Comedy 2026 are officially open, inviting budding comedians from every corner of the country to take a shot at comedy glory.
For over 30 years, RAW Comedy has been unearthing new generations of Australian comedy superstars. Now, it’s your turn. Whether you’re the unofficial clown, the office storyteller, or someone who’s always wanted to give stand-up a go, the stage is set and waiting.
All you need is five minutes of original material and the courage to sign up for a heat near you. The top performers from around Australia will then battle it out for a coveted spot in the RAW Comedy National Grand Final, held on Sunday 12 April during the 2026 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
And the winner? They’ll score a career-changing trip to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe – plus bragging rights as the next big name in Australian comedy.
RAW Comedy has been the launchpad for some of Australia’s most beloved comedians including:
Hannah Gadsby, Ronny Chieng, Anne Edmonds, Bron Lewis, Sam Campbell, Aaron Chen and so many more. Alumni have gone on to tour globally, write for television and film, dominate online, and shape the future of comedy – all beginning with a simple sign-up.
Think you’ve got what it takes? Visit rawcomedy.com.au and register now.
And for those not quite ready to take the stage – heats for 2026 will take place across the country from January. Every RAW Comedy line-up is completely unique: expect hidden gems, wildcard moments, and comedy legends in the making. Hosted by some of your favourite names including Claire Hooper, Rowan Thambar, Bron Lewis, Carl Donnelly (UK), Scout Boxall, Robyn Reynolds and more! Don’t miss the chance to witness the future of Australian comedy. Grab your tickets to a local heat and be part of the journey!
RAW events kick off in January 2026.
