Sydney Theatre Company’s critically acclaimed, side-splitting comedy hit No Pay? No Way! will enjoy a strictly limited encore season from Saturday 6 April starring Mandy McElhinney (House of Hancock, Love Child) andEmma Harvie (Colin from Accounts).
McElhinney and Harvie lead a cast of exceptional comedic talents including Roman Delo (Hubris & Humiliation), Glenn Hazeldine (Così) and Aaron Tsindos (A Fool in Love).
Having premiered in February 2020 to standing ovations and glowing reviews, the first season ended prematurely as the nation went into lockdown. Now this delectable political satire about soaring living costs and the thrills of sticking it to the man returns to Sydney Opera House more relevant than ever before.
Hailed by Time Out as “ferociously funny”, No Pay? No Way! is adapted by award-winning screenwriter, playwright and presenter Marieke Hardy from the original Italian farce by Dario Fo and Franca Rame and is helmed by incomparable comedy director Sarah Giles (The Importance of Being Earnest, Accidental Death of an Anarchist).
An expertly executed farce…hysterically funny” – Time Out Sydney
“Funny? There has to be a stronger word. Funny? If I wasn’t sitting down, I’d have fallen over” – The Sydney Morning Herald
Prices are out of control – and so is Antonia (McElhinney). Sick of having barely enough to pay the gas bill, she leads an uprising at a local supermarket that sees a group of angry housewives shoplift ‘til they drop. Now, with a pile of newly ‘liberated’ loot, Antonia and her best friend Margherita (Harvie) embark on a ludicrous, laugh-a-minute escapade to stay three steps ahead of the law.
The creative team features Charles Davis (Designer), Paul Jackson (Lighting Designer) and Steve Francis (Composer & Sound Designer).
No Pay? No Way! plays at Sydney Opera House, Drama Theatre from 6 April – 11 May 2024.
