In a brief media conference at the Regent Theatre today, Managing Director of the Really Useful Company (Asia Pacific) and Producer of the hit musical Love Never Dies, Tim McFarlane, announced his intention to take the Australian production of Love Never Dies internationally.
With cast members of the Australian Premiere production present, including Ben Lewis (Phantom), Anna O’Byrne (Christine), Simon Gleeson (Raoul), Sharon Millerchip (Meg) and Maria Mercedes (Madam Giry), McFarlane spoke with alacrity and enthusiasm of composer Andrew Lloyd Webber’s pride in the Melbourne production of the show.
“This is only the second production of Love Never Dies ever to be staged in the world”, said McFarlane, “and Andrew has ranked it among the top three productions of his work that he has ever seen. It stands with Evita and the first ever production of Phantom of the Opera.”
McFarlane also announced that:
“This is the production [of Love Never Dies] which Andrew [Lloyd Webber] wants me to take to the rest of the world”.
For the Australian creative team and design team this is an extremely exciting prospect, and may see this version of Love Never Diesopening on Broadway in the near future.
The show is scheduled to perform at the Regent Theatre Melbourne until the end of 2011 before moving to the Capitol Theatre, Sydney early 2012.
