Legendary Caroline O’Connor to perform in star-studded showcase of musical theatre hits

Musical theatre royalty Caroline O’Connor will perform in three Melbourne-only concerts Encore! Songs from the Musicals singing show-stopping hits, alongside an outstanding cast of Australian star performers and backed by Orchestra Victoria, at the Regent Theatre from 28-30 May.

 

 

Audiences will revisit some of the most iconic musical moments from Opera Australia’s impressive catalogue of Musical Theatre productions, including The Phantom of the Opera, My Fair Lady, South Pacific, West Side Story, Miss Saigon, Evita, Sunset Boulevard, A Little Night Music, Guys & Dolls and more.

The legendary Caroline O’Connor has thrilled audiences throughout her illustrious career, having originated roles on Broadway, the West End and beyond. With an impressive list of musicals to her name, she remains one of the most respected, admired and sought after triple threats in show business.

 

 

Joining O’Connor are some of Opera Australia’s most acclaimed musical theatre performers, including leading ladies, Abigail Adriano, who made a powerful debut in Miss Saigon, following up her early acclaim with a sensational Australian premiere season of Hadestown, and Ashleigh Rubenach renowned for her commanding stage presence, vocal power and sharp comic instinct, she swept audiences away across Australia and Asia in Sunset Boulevard.

Also starring in Encore! is the award-winning Nigel Huckle, who thrilled audiences both as Chris in Miss Saigon and Tony in West Wide Story, along with two standout performers, rapidly rising talent Jarrod Draper and acclaimed baritone Raphael Wong, straight from a season of the epic Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour production of The Phantom of the Opera.

 

 

Directed by Mark Sutcliffe and conducted by Vanessa Scammell, this landmark concert celebrates 70 years of great storytelling and music from Opera Australia featuring hit after hit from their impressive and ever-popular repertoire of world-renowned musicals.
