Launch into Anywhere Theatre Festival – Tickets on sale now

Calendars at the ready – the line up for Brisbane’s Anywhere Theatre Festival has been revealed. With over 200 performances of 53 acts, in as many locations across Brisbane, it’s 10 days not to be missed.

Now in it’s 2nd year, this unique festival pledges to host performances in any space other that a theatre, be it public toilets, parks, back yards and even online. Every genre from cabaret to circus is represented so there are no excuses that your cup of tea hasn’t been provided.

As Festival director Paul Osuch proclaims “Between 10 – 19 May you’ll find theatre in alleys, puppets in bars, cabaret in warehouses, comedy in your home and office and performances you can be a part of online from Texas to London.”

Circus artists will collaborate with woodwind instrumentalists in The Music in Me where the audience members become active listeners from within the performance. With the opening instruction ‘Meet at the pizza café’, Unspeakable Acts of Privacy is sure to be an intriguing night at the ‘theatre’.

An exciting work from French youth musical theatre company La Petite Famille, is aimed at teenagers the world over. Demain L-Aurore is about teenaged lovebirds, Tom and Alice, but we all know it’s never as simple as that… and Julian Running is a nautical, shadow-puppetry, indi-folk musical for those who’d like to break away from the mainstream!

Instantaneous Association: Define, is a dance piece exploring the different levels of connectedness used to help define relationships. At what point can you truly say that you are ‘connected’ with someone?

Promising to be one the most talked about events of 2012, BABEL will be a theatrical experience of truly epic proportions. A spectacular show created for an outdoor London setting, BABEL is staged through a unique partnership between WildWorks and Battersea Arts Centre and will feature a cast of 500 community and professional actors and musicians.

There are a number of Shakespearean themed performances this year with Shakespeare’s Shorts making numerous appearances across the city.

Lou has worked in Theatre in Australia, Ireland and London. She is a Youth Ambassador for Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre, an alumni member of the Australian Voices and a director and producer of independent theatre and film. With experience in acting, singing, physical theatre, technical theatre, front of house and stage management she is a devotee to the stage. Lou has studied at UQ, QUT and University College Dublin but is currently completing a bachelor of film and screen media production at Griffith University in Brisbane.
