In Cleansed in Blood, a minister treads a fine line

Picture growing up as a minister’s son, and growing up to think that your place is somewhere in the world of modern Christianity: Thom Jordan did just that. And then he moved to Sydney.

Cleansed in Blood.

And it turned out there was a whole other world outside his bubble, the one he had been living in for 18 years.

Cleansed in Blood, on its way to the Old Fitz, is written and performed by Jordan. It looks at what life might have been like for Jordan if he had stayed within that bubble through a fictional story about Paul, who is one part Jordan’s experiences as a minister’s son and one part inspired by events surrounding a real Australian Pentecostal minister, who was exposed as a fraud after having faked cancer for years.

In Cleansed in Blood, Paul moves to Sydney in pursuit of his ‘God-given gift’ to preach the word to all mankind, but when he fails to advance in the way he thinks is ‘God’s’ will, Paul takes it upon himself to further the Lord’s promise and gets caught up in a cancerous lie.

Jordan believes that Paul is what he could have become, had he stayed within the church.

Catch Cleansed in Blood at the late show spot at the Old Fitz from 23 – 27 June. More info available at  http://www.oldfitztheatre.com/cleansed-in-blood
