Harvest Rain announces Hairspray for 2016

Brisbane based musical theatre company Harvest Rain will make history in 2016 by staging the largest production of the musical Hairspray in the world.

Harvest Rain’s Hairspray

With an estimated cast of over 500 (including 30 core performers and over 500 local ensemble performers) Hairspray will take place at the Brisbane Convention Centre, performing five shows over three nights in April 2016.

Musical theatre stars Simon Burke, Christine Anu, Rob Mills and Wayne Scott Kermond have already been confirmed for the production, which will be directed and choreographed by Callum Mansfield.

Harvest Rain have already put a call out for young performers aged between 9 and 21 to audition for the show and take up the once in a lifetime opportunity to perform in this large scale production!

The unique performance experience also comes with an invaluable training opportunity – each young artist who auditions successfully will be put through a rigorous Hairspray performance boot camp and performance training process.

In a statement on their website, Harvest Rain assure parents that the time commitment for the production won’t interfere with school.

“All bootcamps, training opportunities, performance preparation times and performances take place during school holidays, so this is your chance to spend your holidays doing something you love with people who love it just as much as you!”

“If singing, acting or dancing is your passion, then don’t miss your opportunity to be a part of this record breaking production!”
