HAMILTON recording to be released on Disney+ on July 3

Disney Executive Chairman Robert Iger and Lin-Manuel Miranda announced this morning that Hamilton will be released on July 3rd on Disney+.

The recording features the original Broadway leading cast, including writer and composer Lin-Manuel Miranda in the title role, Leslie Odom Jr. as Aaron Burr, Phillipa Soo as Eliza Hamilton, Renee Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schulyer, Christopher Jackson as George Washington, Daveed Diggs as Lafayette/Jefferson, Okieriete Onaodowan as Mulligan/Madison, Anthony Ramos as Laurens/Phillip Hamilton, Jasmine Cephas Jones as Peggy Schulyer/Maria Reynolds, and Jonathan Groff as King George III.

Hamilton has solidified itself as a cornerstone of modern Music Theatre. Based on the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, the show has won 11 Tony Awards, 10 Lucille Lortel Awards, 2 Outer Critics Circle Awards, 8 Drama Desk awards, 7 Olivier Awards, a Grammy, and a Pulitzer Prize, and many, many more.

The original Broadway cast opened in 2015, and the show has subsequently had 3 US tours, with a current West End production running. Hamilton will be premiering in Australia in March 2021 at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre

The expedited release comes over a year before the recording’s initial premiere date, set for October 2021. It is unclear if the proshot will still have a cinematic release after its digital release.
