It has been confirmed that Hairspray will open in Sydney at the Lyric Theatre on June 23.
This all-Australian production of the multi-award winning Broadway musical is conceived and directed by showbusiness legend David Atkins OAM and uses breath-taking, cutting-edge technology to transport audiences to a visually astonishing world where anything seems possible.
With electric choreography by Jason Coleman, Hairspray is produced by Dainty Consolidated Entertainment and Roadshow Live.
It has been playing successfully in Melbourne since last October.
Starring in the lead role of the girl with big dreams and big hair, Tracy Turnblad, is newcomer Jaz Flowers. Her performance in Hairspray has quickly elevated her into one of the brightest stars on the Australian musical theatre scene.
Hairspray first opened on Broadway on July 18, 2002 and played for over six fabulous years until January 2009. It is a fantastically fun musical and winner of 30 major awards including the Tony Award for Best Musical.
