Georgia Hendy Appointed Executive Director, Canberra Theatre Centre

The Cultural Facilities Corporation (CFC) is delighted to announce the appointment of Georgia Hendy as the incoming Executive Director of Canberra Theatre Centre, commencing February 2026.

Georgia’s appointment marks a historic milestone as the first woman to lead Canberra Theatre Centre in its 60-year history.

A highly respected arts executive with more than two decades of experience, Georgia has held senior leadership roles at some of Australia’s most iconic performing arts institutions, including Sydney Opera House, Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), and Darwin Entertainment Centre, now known as AANT Centre.

In her current role as Chief Executive Officer of AANT Centre, Georgia oversees a vibrant multi-venue precinct featuring two theatres, a 7,000-capacity amphitheatre, gallery space, and hospitality facilities. Under her leadership, the Centre has achieved national prominence – securing major sponsorships, diversifying revenue streams, and negotiating a landmark 10-year naming rights agreement to ensure long-term sustainability.

Georgia brings to Canberra Theatre Centre a powerful blend of strategic vision, creative leadership, and a robust network of national and international industry connections. These strengths will be pivotal as the Centre embarks on its next chapter, including the development of a new Lyric Theatre and enhancement of the operations of its three existing venues.

Her appointment reinforces the Centre’s commitment to being a dynamic hub of creativity, innovation, and community engagement serving Canberra and beyond.
