Eurovision heads to Brisbane

Welcome to Sarajevo, this year’s host of the world’s biggest song competition that delights millions of people around the world! Well, almost.

Following its critically acclaimed season in London’s West End, Eurobeat – almost Eurovision, the glorious and riotously funny homage to Eurovision, will blast into the Lyric Theatre (QPAC) in Brisbane for two weeks only from November 25.

Winner of Best New Musical at Edinburgh Festival 2007, the world’s first interactive musical, Eurobeat – almost Eurovision pitches 10 countries head to head, battling it out through song and dance to win the coveted Eurobeat Award, as voted live by the audience.

In a unique twist of protocols audiences are encouraged to bring their mobile phones to the theatre where they can vote for their favourite performance. Every night is a winner and the results are in the hands of the audience.

Co-starring Rhonda Burchmore and Glynn Nicholas as your Bosnian hosts Boyka and Sergei, Eurobeat is an all- Australian success story. Written by Craig Christie & Andrew Patterson it has been produced by Glynn Nicholas Group in UK, Ireland, Korea, Ireland, Switzerland and the West End.

In 2003 songwriter and British passport holder Craig Christie was denied the chance to write an entry for the Eurovision Song Contest because he lives in Australia. Hurt to the core, he was inspired to go one better and write a whole musical on the subject. And so,Eurobeat was born.

Competing countries are Italy, Poland, Iceland, United Kingdom, Hungary, Russia, Ireland, Greece, Germany and Sweden. But not France.

So switch on your mobile phone, gather a group of your best and loudest friends, grab a flag and get set for the most riotous, hilarious and entertaining night of your musical life.
