Emerging Producer scholarship awarded

Arts Minister, Virginia Judge, today announced that Sydney NIDA production coordinator Johanna Mulholland has been awarded the NSW Emerging Producer Scholarship to study, work and live in the United Kingdom.

Arts Minister, Virginia Judge, today announced that Sydney NIDA production coordinator Johanna Mulholland has been awarded the NSW Emerging Producer Scholarship to study, work and live in the United Kingdom.

Judge said the initiative is part of the $72,000 International Arts Exchange Program announced by the Keneally Government in May this year.

The Arts Exchange Program aims to place artists in overseas cultural centres with other international and local artists in order to develop their careers.

“Johanna will now spend six months based in London working as guest associate producer with English Touring Theatre,” she said.

“As part of the scholarship, the Keneally Government is providing $12,000 towards Johanna’s accommodation, expenses and production costs.

“This residency will help to build networks in the UK and Australian theatre industries within a company known for its outstanding imagination and ambition.”

Mulholland has worked at NIDA for the past three years.

“I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity and would like to express my gratitude to NIDA and its director, Lynne Williams, for their support,” Mulholland said.

British Council Director Nick Marchand said they were pleased to be able to give Ms Mulholland the opportunity.

“It is one of the UK’s leading touring theatre companies, and the perfect environment for an emerging producer to hone her craft,” Marchand said.

“I’d like to thank the English Touring Theatre and Arts NSW for their support of such an important initiative.”
