 They say breaking up is hard to do. We have all been there… either as the ‘Dumper’ or the ‘Dumpee’…  Now a musical is here for the ditched and dateless to laugh at one of life’s worst experiences: being dumped! And AussieTheatre.com are excited to be giving away 2 double passes to Opening Night!  Dumped!, the hugely successful musical written by Emma Powell, has already performed to full houses in Brisbane and Adelaide and it will open in Melbourne on 15 September 2011 at the Athenaeum Theatre, Collins Street. 
Starring Amanda Levy, Mandi Lodge, Jennifer Vuletic and Emma Powell (pictured in this order), the show is set in the fictitious world of Dumpees Anonymous. Throughout the course of the show, the most gut-wrenching of all fates will be commiserated, substantiated, cultivated, investigated and in the end, celebrated through hilarious characters, stories and 15 great songs that channel the pain and humiliation of a million bust-ups, putting humour right back into affairs of the heart. Creator and star of the musical Emma Powell says, ‘Life is too short to mourn over morons – male or female – and DUMPED discovers and celebrates this. Because as we all know, it’s better to have loved and lost than to live with a psycho for the rest of your life’.  Powell admits that in writing the musical Dumped! she called on some of her darkest and most heartbreaking hours. In doing so, she has created an uplifting and heart-warming story which has won rave reviews thus far.  ‘This show is for anyone who’s ever been dumped, dumped someone, is paranoid about getting dumped, is working up the courage to dump someone or who just loves watching other people getting dumped …. not to mention anyone who loves a fun night out with tonnes of crazy stuff and ridiculous musical numbers to boot.’, she said.
Directed by Terence O’Connell, musically directed by Steve Paix and choreographed by Alana Scanlan, Dumped!
