CONFIRMED: Wicked is returning to Sydney this September

John Frost has confirmed that WICKED will be returning to Sydney’s Captiol Theatre in 2014.

The witches of Oz! Wicked’s Lucy Durack and Jemma Rix

The 10th anniversary tour, which returns to Melbourne in May 2014, will transfer to the Capitol Theatre in Sydney from September 20.

The production will tour to Brisbane once the Sydney season concludes, but no dates have been confirmed at this stage.

Tickets for the return Melbourne season, starring Lucy Durack as Glinda and Jemma Rix as Elphaba, have been selling extraordinarily well, with new seats released today.

“Bookings are very strong for the return of WICKED to Melbourne” said Wicked Australia co-producer John Frost.

“It really is the most successful Broadway musical of the past decade. Audiences can’t wait to see this glorious show back in its original Australian home, the beautiful Regent Theatre, Melbourne this year.

The Australian cast are currently performing in Manila, the Philippines, where they have received a rapturous response from sell out audiences. WICKED broke all box office records for the number of tickets sold in a week when it first went on sale in Manila in August.

Tickets for the Sydney season will go on sale on March 17.
