Come inside rehearsals for Next to Normal at the Hayes with this photo feature

Hayes Theatre Co is kicking off its second year in Sydney by connecting itself to independent theatre across the country. Its first show in 2015 is the Doorstep Arts production of Next to Normal, which received critical and audience acclaim during its run in Geelong.

The Pulitzer and Tony Award winning show is a poignant exploration of of family, grief, mental wellness, life, and living. At the heart of the show is the question “what is normal?” Its rock score and soaring vocal parts help the characters try to piece together their lives and how they feel about themselves as parents, children, spouses, and individuals.

Natalie O’Donnell (Mamma Mia) stars, and the cast includes Anthony Harkin (Avenue Q, Shane Warne The Musical), Alex Rathgeber (An Officer And A Gentleman, Fiddler on the Roof), Brent Trotter (Jersey Boys, Four Seasons In One Night), Kiane O’Farrell (Carrie: The Musical, 42nd Street) and Clay Roberts (CATS, Thoroughly Modern Millie).

Check out our photos of the cast and crew, taken by Jessica Nelson, putting it all together below!

Next to Normal will play at the Hayes Theatre in Sydney from 8 January – 1 February 2015. Fr tickets and more information, visit http://www.hayestheatre.com.au/
